Barbe started her educational journey in 1971 with the prospect of becoming an Art Therapist. She obtained a BS in Special Education from The College of St. Rose, Albany, NY, a Masters of Education from Keene State College, Kenne, NH and worked with the NH Institute on Disability training New Hampshire teachers,
future teachers, and students in Inclusionary Education practices for students with disabilities.
Barbe left her counseling and adjunct faculty positions at Keene State College to pursue her passion for creating art and studied art and the healing arts with various New England Art Institutions, Meinrad Craighead, Jeanne Carbonetti, & Deborah Koff-Chapin. She received certification from the Stillpoint School of Integrative Life Healing with Meredith Young-Sowers, the Person Centered Expressive Therapy for Healing and Social Change through Saybrook University, CA, and Reiki Levels I & II. Her goal is to help women and men heal through their personal creations of Intuitive Art.
In 2001, Barbe co-founded the Walpole Artisans, who have a studio tour every year. She works and resides in Jensen Beach, FL and Hudson Falls, NY. Her watercolor paintings have been exhibited and displayed in galleries and private homes across the United States. She is an active member of the Ft. Pierce Art Club, a Facilitator and Board Member of The Veteran's Spouse Project, and a Parent Group Facilitator for Family Promise of Martin Co. FL., a non-profit providing assistance to at risk families for the prevention of homelessness.
